Doris met her husband in 8th grade, married in 1942, and started a family before he left for the Pacific to serve in WWII. She worked most of her life, including in the bookstore at Indiana University and in a civil service position during the war.

In retirement, they enjoyed traveling the country in their Airstream visiting many national parks. Recently, Doris resided at Alderman Oaks, where she enjoyed bingo, dominoes and Thursday night happy hours with live music and dancing. Doris was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, or Child Protection Center, Sarasota, FL. There will be a graveside service for family only, and a celebration of life at a later date.
