Obituary of Don M. Crawford

Don Mathews Crawford lll was taken to Heaven on Thursday, January 28th 2021 with his family by his side.  Don was born on September 14th 1946, the first of three sons of Don and Dorothy Crawford.  He grew up in Birmingham, Michigan and attended Holy Name Catholic School, Brother Rice High School, and Lawrence Technological University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management and a minor in Accounting.  In November of 1968 he married Claudia R. Armitage and they began a beautiful life together. They were blessed with three daughters, Carolyn, Kristin and Jaclyn. Don started his long career in the steel industry at Lafayette Steel and eventually retired from Delaco Steel Company in Detroit after 45 years in the steel industry.  

He was known for telling great stories and jokes and making people smile. He spent his retirement in Siesta Key Florida for the winter months, and his summers were split between Hubbard Lake Michigan and Rochester Hills Michigan.   Don loved golf, hunting, fishing, boating, and spending time with family and friends.  Don was such a loving husband, father, papa, brother and uncle.  

Don was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gary.  He is survived by his wife, Claudia and daughters Carolyn (husband Chris), Kristin (husband Joe), and Jaclyn (husband Ryan); his grandchildren Jared & Erika Currie, Domenico & Andre LaSala and Kate and Elayna Delalla; his brother Guy Crawford (wife Carleen); and his sister-in-law Michele Crawford, two nieces and a nephew, and a great niece and nephew.  

There will be two Celebrations of Life. The first will be held on March 11th 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Gulf and Bay Club Bayside on Siesta Key, Florida (please bring lawn chairs).  This service will also be telecast live - www.tribucast.com.  The key code to attend remotely is DHOLF.  The other will be held in the spring of 2021 in Michigan. 

Memorial contributions may be made in Don’s memory to Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church Building Fund.
