Obituary of Jerome Anthony Maes
Jerome Maes of Sarasota, FL died peacefully at home on August 9, 2021. He was predeceased by his parents Juan A. Maes and Emma Herrera. He is survived by his wife, Greta Reeser, his sister Perlinda (Jim Shelton), and his brothers John (Rosemary Valdez), Joseph, and James (Lori Bannowsky), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws, and friends.
Jerome was born on September 27, 1960 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and attended Highland High School. He received a Bachelor of Music in Composition from University of New Mexico, and studied Music Theory at University of Southern California. In 2007, Jerome received a Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago. He worked for many years in the Engineering Department at USC, and as a legal writer and analyst at CCH/Wolters Kluwer.
A brilliant man with a kind heart and sweet nature, Jerome will be remembered with love by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at the UNM Alumni Memorial Chapel on September 27 at 10 am. If desired, gifts in Jerome's memory may be made to the Hummingbird Music Camp Scholarship Program, Jemez Springs, New Mexico.
