Obituary of Frances A McLaughlin

Frances McLaughlin of Venice, Florida passed from this life into the hands of Jesus on January 29, 2022.  Frances was born on September 27, 1933 to Ethel and Vernon Strohminger in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  In her childhood and teen years, she was known as “Skippy”. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, John (Jack) McLaughlin, her daughter, Pamela French, (husband Stephen); her son Stephen McLaughlin (wife Cynthia); also, three grandsons, Brian French, Nicholas and Matthew McLaughlin. 

Frances had been struggling with Parkinson’s disease for ten years. 

For the past 20 years, Frances and her husband have been “snow birds” with homes in Venice, Florida and Ocean Park, Maine. 

While spending summers in Ocean Park, Maine, she volunteered and belonged to the Educational Bureau of the Ocean Park Association.  She loved working with the children, helping out with crafts and ceramics along with Nancy Stack, one of her best friends. 

Final arrangements are with Jennings Funeral Home in Sarasota.  Memorial services may be held at a later date. 

Donations in her memory may be given to either the Parkinson’s Foundation, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, or the Salvation Army.
