Obituary of Michael Charles Wieland

Michael Wieland, a retired resident of Nokomis, Florida, died unexpectedly on December 6, 2021 at the age of 65.

He is survived by his beloved wife Cynthia; Stepdaughters and Son, Erika (Matt), Jaime (Andrew) & Michael (Jessica) and 5 Grandchildren, Sienna, Sammy, Oliver, Kate and Tessa.
Michael was born in Springfield, IL to Harold and Patsey Wieland on February 1, 1956.  He was the 2nd eldest of 5 children; Sister, Susan (Bob); Brothers, Christian (Karen), Paul (Lisa), and Philip (Jennifer). 

Mike built his 45+ year career in various manufacturing management positions at Atkore International formerly known as Allied Tube and Conduit. He retired in 2019, and moved to Nokomis, Florida where he and Cindy began the next chapter of their lives.  As Mike would always say, “I’m finally living in Paradise.”

Mike and Cindy built a beautiful home near the Florida beaches and reveled in all of the activities the sunshine state has to offer. Mike was a certified SCUBA diver, a persistent golfer, and a novice fisherman.  He loved the water and joined Freedom Boat Club to cruise the gulf with family and friends during the day.  At night, he loved home entertainment with family and friends. One could find Mike manning the grill, enjoying a scotch while rock and blues favorites’ Joe Bonamassa, Eric Clapton or Stevie Ray Vaughan played in the background. Mike built a strong network of loving and amazing friends through the Venice-Nokomis Elks #1854, Bellacina Community, Freedom Boat Club and the Pelican Pointe Golf Course. 

A “Celebration of Life” will be held on December 17th 2021 from 1:00pm – 3:00pm at Jennings Funeral Home and Crematory, 5750 Swift Road, Sarasota, FL 34231.
