Obituary of Carol Jean Ashcraft Bolen

Carol Jean Ashcraft Bolen, 96, of Graham went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 5, 2023. Carol was a resident of Sebring, FL for 19 years and had recently been residing in Graham, NC.

A native of Guysville, OH, she was the wife of the late Sgt. Robert Emil Bolen, Sr. and the daughter of Okey Ashcraft and Mary Phyllis Pierce Ashcraft, both deceased. She was a great homemaker and a very good cook well known for her famous Caesar Salad.  Carol loved gardening and decorating for the holidays even up into her 90’s.  Her family loved drag racing, and Carol took part in the 75-80 Powder Puff Drag Racing while living in Maryland. She was a member of Bible Fellowship Church in Sebring, FL.

Survivors include her children, Barbara Bolen of Graham, NC, Robert Bolen, Jr. of Osprey, FL, Brenda Kolp of Sebring, FL, and Richard Bolen of Saltville, VA; 13 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and extended family in Ohio.  She was preceded in death by a son, David Ross Bolen, Sr. and grandson, Michael Brandon Hogen. Carol was the last of seven children.

The family will have a viewing on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Graham from 10:00 an until 12:00 noon.

A family graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 10:30 am in the Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, FL.
