Obituary of Lyle A. Mekkes
Lyle Mekkes, age82, of Venice, FL, passed away on November 14, 2023. He was born in Jenison, MI to Nicholas and Sena Mekkes on August 21, 1941. Lyle retired from the automotive industry in 2002, and relocated to Venice from Hudsonville, MI. Lyle was a volunteer at Venice Hospital and will be remembered as the Mayor of the Panera Coffee Club.
Surviving family members include his wife, Susan; children Mark and Eloisa Mekkes of Davenport, FL, Michelle and Jeff Keyes of Grand Rapids, MI, Todd and Debra Smith of Charlotte, NC, and James Smith of Venice; brother Lee and Edith Mekkes of Fayetteville, AR; grandchildren Reese, Mason, Jacob, Jillian, and Jasmin; and great grandchild Miles.
