Anne Hirsch

Obituary of Anne Dearing Hirsch

Anne Dearing Hirsch, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother,
aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully in Sarasota, Florida, at
the age of 88 on Monday, December 18th, surrounded by her loving
family.
Anne lived a life filled with love and generosity, placing a profound
commitment on family and friendship. For sixty-five years, she was
a devoted and caring wife, sharing international adventures with
her husband, Carl. They explored the world together, and Anne
became Dana's Ambassador to the wives of Dana's International
Clients and Affiliates, fostering important relationships.
Born with a passion for art, Anne's love for the art of glass began
when she was a little girl attending classes at the Toledo Museum of
Art. Her affinity for the art of glass was particularly special. Her love
for art cascaded into her impeccable sense of style and grace. She
enjoyed dressing elegantly, always adding a touch of pink to her
attire. Colorful reminders of Anne surround us in our daily lives.
After graduating with a B.A. in Education from Miami University in
Oxford, Ohio, Anne began her career teaching Third and Fourth
Grade in the Elementary School System.

Anne was an active volunteer, participating in organizations such as
Junior League International, Oakland City University Board of
Trustees, Toledo Museum of Art Ambassadors, Planned Parenthood,
and the National "Born to Read" program. Her involvement in her
beloved sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma, extended to various
leadership roles, continuing through her participation in Kappa
Alumni Associations in cities that Anne called home. While serving as
a Trustee on the Board of Trustees of Oakland City University, her
contributions were recognized when she was awarded an
honorary PhD Degree in Humanities.
Anne is preceded in death by her parents, William and Edythe
Dearing, her son Jeffrey Todd Hirsch, and her grandson Wesley
Michael Spano. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband
Carl, son Gregg (Laura), daughter-in-law Joy, sister Kathy (Larry),
and grandchildren William, Caroline, and Alec.
A private interment service is planned for the family in Toledo, Ohio.
A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of
flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Jeffrey
Todd Hirsch Scholarship Fund at St. John’s Jesuit High School,
Toledo, Ohio, the Toledo Museum of Art, or The Church of the Palms in
Sarasota, Florida.
Love is eternal, and Anne will be forever missed but never forgotten.
Her memories live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
