Joe Mazzola

Obituary of Joe Mazzola

Giuseppe “Joe” Mazzola, born in Collesano, Sicily, Italy on December 22, 1951 passed away surrounded by family after a valiant battle with cancer in Englewood, Florida on February 7, 2024 at the age of 72.

His family arrived in the US on April 1, 1954.  Lived in New York City for a short time before moving to Rochester, NY.  Joe graduated from Edison Tech in 1969.

A Vietnam veteran, Joe served in the United States Air Force from 1970-1974.  Later serving as a US Navy Corpsman attached to the Marine 7th Tank Battalion and with the U.S. Naval & Marine Corps Reserve.

He was a resident of Rochester, NY until moving to Englewood, FL in 2015.  Joe worked as a sales associate at Sunset Kia of Sarasota before retiring in January 2024 after 17 years.  Joe had a great love and passion for cooking. Many Sunday's he could found in the kitchen fine-tuning one of his Sunday Sauce or one of his meatball recipes. The smell of sauce simmering in the house was such a comfort to him.  We would always enjoy his latest versions with some wonderful wine.

Joe is survived by his wife of 29 years, Barbara (Tripp) Mazzola; two brothers, Rosario (Kathryn) Mazzola and Salvatore (Timothy) Mazzola; his two sons, many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Rosario Mazzola and mother, Francesca Passafiume.

A visitation will be held at Farley Funeral Home in Venice on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 4:00PM-7:00PM.
