Obituary of Betty G Kaufman

Betty Garland Payne Kaufman, formerly of Loyalsock and Muncy PA until relocating to Venice FL, died peacefully with family surrounding her at the home that she shared with son Jeff(Kim)Payne in Venice on Saturday, February 10,2024.

Born in Montoursville PA on December 16, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Brooks Sylvanus and Elizabeth Ida Seibert Garland.  She graduated from Williamsport High School 1946.  She was married to Claire Kaufman for 28 years who died in 2001.

She was a secretary at Williamsport High School, Jackson Elementary School, Jefferson Elementary, and Stevens Middle School for many years.  She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Williamsport PA.  She was a 50+ year member and past Matron of Felicitas #500 Eastern Star. She was also a member of PASR and PSERS.  She enjoyed making things out of plastic canvas for her family and friends.  Her favorite times in Florida were when the family would come for a cookout and spend the day.

Other survivors whom she deeply loved are stepsons William and Mark Kaufman, sisters Ethel Thursby(deceased), Evelyn Shank(deceased), Dorothy Davis, grandchildren Jennifer Gara of PA, Jessica Osuigwe, Jacqueline Garabito and Jeffrey Lance Payne of Manatee County, step grandchildren Clarissa, Janelle, David Kaufman, James Campbell, great grandchildren Lenee, Damien, DeAndre, Pablo, Peyton, Whitney, Stephen, Julissa, Victoria, Leila, Gavin and Caroline, many step great grandchildren, great great grandchildren Kaia and Gemma.

She will be buried with her husband in Montoursville PA privately at a later date.  Any donations in her honor would be appreciated by Community Assistance Ministry at 4365 SR776 Venice FL 34293 who helps feed those less fortunate or Tidewell Hospice Foundation at 3550 S Tamiami Trail Sarasota, FL 34239
